Integral & Mutual Understanding
How to Share Individual & Companion Mentalities
Heiner Benking
1997
In view of the dawn of a Visual Age of multi-media and cyberculture there is a high need to reflect on the Edge of Visual Communication, or more specificly: understanding "Access" and "Assimilation" in the light of J.W. v. Goethe and Otto Neurath. In particular Neuraths Visual Education(1937) teaching through images - a new language. This can either lead to designing deep new images or world-views (views-of-life) which we can jointly explore, transform, edit, and discriminate, or on the other hand, in the pessimistic view, lead to some irreversible cyberculture, which may have already taken on control, leaving little space for changing directions or content (see: Cyberculture and Metaparadigm references on the homepage, and figure: CULTURE ~ CYBERCULTURE / TEMPLE~ BABLE).
Just as the homepage features the background, design and purpose of the Cognitive Panorama, this place is dedicated to philosophical and educational building blocks, such as from intellectual pillars like: Goethe, Piaget, Popper, Arnheim, Neurath, Comenius, Gibson,...to be continued and extended- ) whom need to be introduced, as they have been indispensible in the evolution of shared cognition and co-creation as presented here ( see also: Worldview Compositions in anschaulichen cognitive Spaces - a necessary phylogenetic step, presentation at the KLI - Konrad Lorenz Institute for Evolution and Cognition Reseach, Altenberg, Jan. 1997).
INTEGRAL & SYNTHETIC THINKING

Thinking to Grasp Deeper Connections
Intuitive and Imaginative Synthetic Thinking
"...the mere gaze of an object cannot engage us (completely). Each look flows into a careful examination, each examination into a meditation, and each meditation takes us into a connection. With each attentive look into the world we already begin to theorise about it. If the abstractions we fear is to be harmless and the experience we hope for is to be real and useful, we need to engage skilfully with consciousness, self-reflection, a sense of freedom, and - to use a daring word - a sense of irony."
Johann Wolfgang Goethe
preface of The Theory of Color
Anschauung - Weltanschauung
Like the term Weltanschauung, Anschauung as its root requires participation, needs you to reflect deeper. You can see through your eyes when you are born, but you need to curiously explore your worlds to see deeper AND learn to experience and share in conceptual and cognitive SPACES.
"you are born to see,
to see deeper is a disposition
-integrally and synthetically- "
zum sehen geboren, zum schauen bestellt
Goethe, Faust II
