Sally Tarrant Cobb
Sally Tarrant (Cobb) is the first researcher who did an in depth analysis of the structures of "spinules" in neural cells, including related tissues. Recognizing the dynamics implied by the states of the observed architecture, she was the first to enunciate exactly what these previously under appreciated structures were, and their significance in brain functioning.
Spinules are involved with ongoing synapse formation (the places where cells link with other cells), the growth of new synapses, the re-growth of replacement synapses, and persistent subtle structural changes in active brain archi- tecture that are intimate with the brain's premiere activity :
