  Objectives

Convergence of behavioral science within the conceptual framework of game theory is both the conclusion and the consequence of my most significant publication, Time’s Feminine Arrow.   The Mindscape concept is the link between the objective reality of mathematical biology and the personalities of individuals. Originally formulated by anthropologists to explain irreconcilable differences across cultural and epistemological barriers, I took advantage of game theory connections to integrate the mindscape concept into general systems. The result is a biobehavioral equivalent to "personality theory", an equivalent that may well permit us to deliver things only promised by humanist philosophers and psychologists. Its greatest promise is its contribution to the resolution of conflicts between groups and personalities.

Among game theory’s intuitive analogies and multidimensional mathematics lie solutions both to a broad spectrum of present and contemporary problems. A General Systems/Synergetics approach suggests that psychological game theory can supply the necessary convergence of relevant disciplines a convergence that will prove indispensable in dealing with the complexity of the 21st Century.

   Experience

My theoretical experience began as editor of the conferences of an advanced social science think tank at the United States National Institutes of Mental Health in Bethesda Maryland, my practical experimental training started as a laboratory mechanic in a learning laboratory at the University of Maryland. Progress since then has been steady and uninterrupted.

1972–1996 Psychological Institute Uppsala University

Associate Professor

· · Taught most of the courses on both graduate and undergraduate curriculum.

· · Performed ecology of showdogs experiments.

· · Developed theory of behavioral modification of drug addicts using Premack’s principle and general
       systems as joint conceptual frameworks.

· · Developed Induction/Catastrophe Theory, an integrated theory of cognition based on ecology of
showdogs experiments and general systems conceptual framework. Catastrophe theory and chaos
mathematics was used to perform hyperspacial integration of behavioral analytical theories.

   Research Program

Using opponent processes neuro coding, Premack’s principle of reinforcement, Rapoport’s mathematical game theory, Eigen & Winkler & Winkler’s micro genetics and Maruyama’s theory of Mindscapes, I have constructed an applied theory of behavioral science that utilizes mathematical and experimental methods developed in basic biological natural and sciences. The prescription approach (traditionally advocated by humanistic philosophies) is replaced by descriptions of probable consequences as derived from integrated biobehavioral approaches. In addition addressing the difficult problems confronting behavioral genetics, the results indicate,

· · Six dimensional catastrophe theory offers an elegant solution to the problem of differences between the cognition
of individuals alone and individuals in groups.

· · Crowding emerges as a powerful determinant. Its subtle but powerful influence on behavioral may be analogous
to that of gravity for physical objects.

· · Discovered differences between Western and Chinese patterns of reasoning may also explain gender differences
        between Western Europeans.

· · Integrates perception, learning, cognition and genetics,

· · Forges links between macro- theories of N. Rashevsky and Anatol Rapoport's game theory.

There are strong indications that these conclusions may have profound effects on how we approach problems involving the transmission, development, uses and interpretation of information.
