Metaphors & Isophors

To: Silvia Austerlic <silvia@>    Date: 14 Mar 1999    Subject:

Dear Silvia,

See item #3 from my Tucson II (1996) ceptualinstitute.com/uiu_plus/exhibits.htm   exhibits.

3) " Objectivity is not an 'object' " Concept statement.    Nothing in the universe can be identically reproduced down to the last detail - because total information openness includes everything else in the universe at any paricular "moment". The only thing reproducible is not a "thing" per se, but intan- gible dynamics. "Objectivity" is relationships and dynamics, not differential inside/outside frame-of-references, or individual-experience versus communal- experiences. Extants may be similar but are never identical. Energy forms and structures can only be homeomorphic. They are sample configurations of quantum and  field relationships. It is those relationships and dynamics which are the isomorphic aspects of the universe.

The reason metaphor works is that all existence is subjective and objective simultaneously. There is no avoiding personal subjective existence, unique in the locus of experience and understanding. There is no avoiding personal objective existence, being companion to all co-existence that is organized according to the same same same rules and relationships of being, always and everywhere.

'Objectivity' resides in the intangible and transcendent ... the relations and rules of behaviors and interactions.

'Subjectivity' resides in being energy/material examples of the objective/transcendent.

It is unavoidable to be both. To 'be' is to be completely. This is unavoidable: metaphor and isophor are everywhere and in all things and in all events.

To be tuned with the 'natural' of existence is one way. To be tuned with the 'constructed' of existence may not be as fulfilling as the natural, but it is there in the scheme of things no less and no more. It harbors value too, though quite less combined.

You should read Benjamin Whorf (linguist circa 1930's). You should read Valery Kourinsky's writings and poetry in the genre section of my website. (Val is a poet in his own right and has also translated poetry from Chinese into Russian). I may not be as melifluous in word as you are but even my own poetics will stand the test..

The universe is devised to not be devious with itself ... it is open and expressive ... it displays here and exemplifies there. It is totally coherent and true to itself.

And there in rests the only conclusion: metaphor and isophor teach. What is one is one in all. Allegory is infinitely applicable. To enlighten, to become open to appreciation, for the diversity and unity that is one and the same is the final goal. Harmony is the cognition that absolute individuality is an illusion, harmony is the cognition that absolute diversity is impossible, harmony is the cognition that 'one' is a composition, not a uniqueness. Life and being can only exist with shared qualities that support one another ... infinitely and absolutely and perfectly.

No part can be all ...perfectly ... and no part can avoid being all ... in essense and spirit. You are a piece of the 'mind' of the universe ... helping it to understand itself. It seems as if 'you' are gaining in knowledge and appreciation and wisdom...advancing your personal karma. But that is an illusion. You are a wisdom of the godhead itself, seeing through the locus that you call "silvia, me, self" what the rest of yourself (your godheadness) looks like, seems as, acts as, can be, is.

As you personally adore 'metaphor', it follows that there can be no other 'reality' than ... you are in fact an eye and a voice of the godhead incarnate, in explicate. There is no deeper fuller meaning possible than that glory.
